‘Simple, fresh, edgy and unique’ are the words used by 22-year-old Asako Nakamura when referring to Mura, her new boutique opening at Noosa Civic. This progressive thinking young entrepreneur is drawing on her love of fashion and extensive travels to bring together a very different combination of fashion and accessories.

Asako graduated from QUT in 2009 with a Bachelor of International Business and her vision has always been to create a retail experience for younger buyers with a difference by stocking special pieces within reach in an upmarket retail environment.

Whilst sourcing eye-catching pieces from local jewellery designers is high on her agenda, a very diverse range of fashions will be sure to draw the attentions of young shoppers searching for something special on a realistic budget. “I’m really aiming to give young women between the ages of 14 – 30 affordable fashion choices with fantastic accessories, these will be quite different to things already on offer on the coast”. It’s not just Asako’s choice of stock which will be interesting. “I will be incorporating fun technology to make the store a really interactive shopping experience.” she says. With the use of in-store IPads customers can connect to Facebook, take photos of outfits and “check in” to the store, creating an immediate fun and social atmosphere both physically in-store and on Mura’s Facebook page. Having spent 14 years as a Noosa resident, Asako is excited about taking on the lease from her parents who have been retailers at Noosa Civic for some time. “I can remember being so excited when the Centre first opened as it meant another place to go!” she said. “To me it makes sense to have my store there, as I know the centre so well and plan to build my business on repeat customers”.
