At Noosa Civic we care for the environment. Listed below are some of the many environmental initiatives we have in place to ensure Noosa Civic is a 'Natural' place to shop.
Open space areas environmentally covenant
There's plenty of open space throughout Noosa Civic. Our Environmental Manager maintains natural areas (10 metres wide) throughout our site to provide natural habitat for flora and fauna, including the Elf Skink and wildlife corridors for the Koala. These natural open spaces are also a feature of Noosa Civic.
North west corner wetlands
Wetland draws into a natural drainage line which flows down into the aquatic wetland, visually screening the shopping centre.
Natural Dam
Tidal flows into Eenie Creek, the natural dam is home to the Wallum Froglet, Elf Skink, native plants and protected birds.
Bio-retention tank system
The bio-retention tank system captures storm-water and pollutants from the carpark. This tank system acts as a natural filter before any captured water can flow downstream into an aquatic wetland. Plants in the tank are used to process nutrients.
Revegitated areas
Provide habitat for flora and fauna, erosion of the sediment control and a preferential flow path diversion.
Natural drainage line
11 hectares of open space totally rehabilitated, handed over to the Noosa Council as public open space.
Rainwater tank
The rainwater tank collects all the rainwater of the roof space of the Mall which is used as recycled water through air-conditioning cooling systems and also for watering landscaped areas.
Gross pollutant trap
The gross polutant trap, filters and traps oils and solids to improve the quality of water which is released into the natual habitat.
